Techno-Notice-Ology

This lens is about technology that seems to get past most of us, like we don't hear about it, but then bang, your new computer is talking to you and there's no mouse or keyboard.

Well, we're not quite there yet! But, I try to keep up with stuff like this.

There's two sides to this...Techno-Notice..

The 'A' side is about technology, (or the lack of it), that we ignore or turn a blind eye to! Like where we know it's impossible to go into the radiation hot-spots on this planet like Chernobyl or 3 Mile Island. Because we'd die in minutes, days or weeks!

Even the highest level of protective radiation suits cannot protect the body in this environment!
Yet we are led to believe that we went to the moon, travelling through the VAN ALLEN Radiation belts, that have hundreds of thousands times more lethal radiation than anything we have on earth!

No astronaut that went to the moon ever suffered even the mildest radiation! Away with ya man, I wasn't born yesterday! Yet another example of Techno-Notice-Ology. We Techno-Notice of the scientific truth!

The 'B' Side is -
Like a hotel, - a friend went to recently, had some of the most high-tech equipment in the rooms!
Order flowers and book your table in the restaurant, even order from the menu & wine list, all from a touch screen.

I think it was probably lower tech than my report on Perceptive Pixel by Jeff Han -below.
Probably more like the kind of bar-type till-register, that staff members use a card-key to log in on each sale.
That's one way to reduce your staffing costs I thought! Get the customers to press the till buttons themselves! And HEY... you already have their credit card details, so what the heyyy...

The pic.. right, yea, well this guy is head and shoulders above the rest of us in terms of tech knowledge and income, so I thought I'd hang him upside-down from the ceiling, NO DISRESPECT intended. I wanted him on-high, on a pedestal, so I put him as high as I could...

Perceptive Pixel by Jeff Han

For Hi-Tech YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS.. (Well..Actually..You have to)!

It's like some futuristic Star-gatey type of thing. I love this stuff. I want it, I must have it!

Lets call it the touch screen technology - its real 23rd century stuff.

Its proper name is "Perceptive Pixel - MPX Surface Multi Point - Idemostration Tactile Screen", YEAH! right... A real tekky name to go with it.

This Fxxxxxxx Guy, (YES I SAID 'FABULOUS') has poured his life and soul into this technology, so don't go calling it no "Touch Screen"....

Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE!
I'm still gonna call it a touch screen!

Perceptive Pixel, Inc. was founded by Jeff Han in 2006 as a spin-off of the NYU Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (Impressive), to develop and market the most advanced multi-touch system in the world.

Cracking job mate, 10 out of 10.
(I wonder if this technology could be used to MANIPULATE porn images)?
(I've just wet myself with laughter - the mind boggles)!

Microsoft's Powerful Image Technology

The COLLECTIVE wants YOU! - Resistance is FUTILE!

Resistance is futile, the future is here, if you've already uploaded any of your pics or information, it has probably already been absorbed by "The Collective".

I'm not even going to ask if BIG BROTHER is watching me, but why is there a photo of my mum waving from the Golden-Gate Bridge available to the world.. (There ain't one, I'm just trying to make a point, eesh, stop with the emails)!

Do you care? (I don't really either)!
Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE!

Massive collections of photos are absorbed into the collective!
SeaDragon + PhotoSynth
Microsoft Photosynth (is free for the technology preview)
Microsoft Photosynth Is Live with 20 GB of Free Storage

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Microsoft-Photosynth-Is-Live-with-20-GB-of-Free-Storage-92250.shtml

I don't know what to say, I'm gobsmacked, It's like a whole new dimension. You could use it to ruin your holiday by virtually visiting all the places you are going to see on your visit.

Then when you finally get there, you'll be bored and have nothing to do. Or you could (BORE) ---sorry, I mean impress the wife and kids with your knowledge, errr, like you'd actually been there in another life. (or dimension)!

Trust me to think along negative lines! (I'm bored, anyone for tennis)!

Look, I'm sorry, I know it is amazing technology, but I want to see these places for myself in real life. I know I'll never get the chance, so this is my next best and only hope!

Perhaps, the next stage in this technology is to go for a virtual holiday, where 'they' inject you with drugs to make you feel good and loose all sense of time and reality.

Strap some VR glasses on face and suspend you in a sensory deprivation tank, then 'they' send you on the adventure holiday of a lifetime...!
Wow, I'm hooked, where do I sign up!

WHATer a Welder! & WHATer a Car!

WATER - YES - WATER, It'll only get taxed to the hilt or made illegal to use!

The first guy that invented this technology, is Stan Meyer, but every-one's seemed to have forgotten about him.
(Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE)!

Our history books will read similar to the Edison story v Humphrey Davy et al... What do you think?
(I don't really want to know).

100 miles on 4fl oz of water! Well at that rate, why not go the whole hog and just make the car 100% Hydrogen?

I believe it works, but why leave your car with the extra weight of petrol / diesel tank and fuel line. Just rip out the lot and go for water power, it's not as if it isn't readily available!

We all want this technology, don't we! Why are governments and even private sector investors not picking this up big time?

Surely its the invention of the century!
Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE!

SOLAR ENERGY TECHNOLOGY BREAKTHROUGH!

Why don't governments listen, and get the global warming issues solved?

THIS JUST MAKES ME ANGRY!

"They" could power a country from a few small mirrors! So let the Government keep the oil and gas for their warmongering antics and let the rest of us have cheap solar and hydrogen power?

Wow, when you see technologies working, like the hydrogen powered car, where you can travel 100miles on 4fl oz of water, and this SOLAR TECHNOLOGY, that can solve problems around the world, it makes you wonder just what out politicians are doing.

Well, I can tell you... THEY ARE DOING NOTHING!
Hey, they don't even watch YouTube videos!

Otherwise, the politicians would be talking about all this stuff, not about world recession and saving banks from bankruptcy.. Hey.. The government never offered to bail out my business when it failed! I was just told how much I could claim in benefits, in relation to how much I had paid in to the system over years of work! (Not happy).....

If I were a politician, I'd be telling the country that we are pursuing these new technologies to clean up the world we live in and give people better resources etc. Of course with water powered cars available, everyone would want two. People would have to be restricted to one per household or something.

No - I don't have all the answers, but my ideas and theories behind why technologies are not being used is down to the fact that governments have too many fingers in pies, that they will never pull them out, because it would mean no money for them to pay themselves big fat pay-cheques!

Like Oil / Gas taxes, if they ever do bring us Solar and Hydrogen power, they will find a way to make us pay for the sun and water! MARK MY WORDS WELL!

Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE!

Taking advantage of renewable energy isn't something that's difficult at all. You don't need experience to create your own energy. You don't even have to know what renewable energy is!

You can produce green renewable energy right from your own home, that will supply all of your power needs possible with some to spare to sell back to the national grid!

  • Would you like to reduce your dependency on the power grid and reduce, or even totally eliminate, your power bill?
  • How about receive a check each month for the extra power you produce (yes the power company will actually pay you)?
  • What if you could accomplish that with professional, do-it-yourself, instruction that will give you everything you need to convert your home to renewable, free, energy?
  • Learn How To Build Solar Power Generators!

Image Metrics: How-To Video

I did not have relations with Monica, I didn't actually say what I said before!

Wow, this is great!

This video shows the new technology that is being developed for this process, but this facial animation malarkey has been possible for quite some time!
(Notice how specific I was)!

Although this video shows the end results a little cartoony, there are renditions that look totally life-like, I'll try to find one for my next article post.

Now I can get a pic of anyone and make them say anything I want!

Just what do you choose to believe these days? For starters, the only thing you can believe in the newspapers, is the DATE! Even things you see on TV, like supposedly factual news reports don't have to be 100% true.. (He said this, She said that)!

So now when you see politicians promising things or slagging off the opposition or people shown confessing on video, - REMEMBER anything can be done these days, you cannot even believe your own eyes & ears!

But do you care? - Neither do I.....- I will still say, Oh - did you see this or that on TV - (like it was true news)!

Yet another example of Techno-NOTICE!

3D TV

Whats Next Smelly-Vision?

3D TV is a relative newcomer to our homes and just like back when black-and-white TV made it into our homes, the technology was expensive. Nothing has really changed, except that people now buy stuff they cannot afford, on credit, so every-one tries to keep-up-with-the-Jones', and goes out an buys the latest kit. I remember B & W TV and also remember when we got our first color TV (and being one of the last in our street to do so).

Now we take TV for granted, so much so, that we even have two TVs in the kitchen (as well as two music-stereos), so that we can watch two TV's at once! Is that excessive? People who have never experienced this, get confused when they first see my home layout. In the living-room, we have four more TV's - but only one is set for receiving TV, the others are for xBox and Playstations.

Every member of my family, (five kids, three of whom are now young adults and have partners of their own), can easily tune in to different sources of entertainment. I'm taking on a mental issue here, newcomers cannot get used to the noise and often ask how we can all be listening to different things at once and still hear and concentrate on what we focus on. It is just that; we have got used to focusing on whatever we turn our attentions to.

My eldest son, who mostly lives away down south now, for work reasons, came to visit for the weekend. His new partner was amazed to see him fit right back into, having several conversations, all happening at the same time. I have a large family and we all chatter on several topics. Its not unusual to have two people talking to you, but usually you are all talking about the same topic!

Whilst I sit here, I have Die Hard 4 starting on Film 4 (UK TV) and I am working on two PC's. (MSN and a webinar in about an hour on one PC and blogging this into Squidoo directly on the second PC, whilst simultaneously making an update video for my Youtube page, about how to put a video onto your Squidoo lens). I have the recording paused right now, whilst I type this description!

A third PC is actually turned-off for the day, (well, its a slow day for me), due to a fault on the hard-drive of my third PC. Yet a fourth PC is set for a family member to use. (One of my sons is on Face-Book right now, chatting and playing a Face-Book game and another son is Playing the xBox, online with friends. It might sound like a mad-house, but it works for us!

What I'm trying to say is, that we do take all of this technology for granted! We had a power-cut about a month ago, (Jan 2011) and we ended up sat playing a board game -(Monopoly), by candle-light. Back in the days my gran was a teenage girl, (at the turn of 1900), the most technology that she had access to, was a light switch and a radio. (a wireless as she called it).

We do take technology for granted these days. I just cannot imagine whats next on the horizon for us. 3D TV? What could we possibly do to improve on that. We have totally interactive game-play online, either with other gamers or AI bots. Where do we go from there I wonder? Possibly 3D VR? (Virtual Reality).

What about Smelly-Vision? That would really make the films and programs come to life - hey what? What about watching The Autopsy, or programs like The Filth Files, where they go into disgusting places to clean-up. Do you think that technology is going to hit a final brick-wall, where there is nothing new to do, except improve picture quality and size of screen? Whats after 3D TV? Maybe it will be Smelly-Vision. Or perhaps VR TV, virtual reality films and programs, where you can choose to be anyone in the film or program and interact within it?

I think you will agree that we Techno-Notice of our current technologies and rely on them too much. We may one day pay the price of our fragile lifestyles, built up around our technology. If we had to return to 19th century lifestyle existence due to a holocaust of some nature, we may find ourselves up the creek, without a paddle! (Or a mobile phone, portable plasma HD 3D Blue-Ray DVD player or lap-top). What a nightmare!

AndyGold. (Thinking, what would I do without a spoll-chucker)?
